Biography:  Thomas E. Reynolds has been a music educator for over twenty years, having had experience as a conductor of college, high school, middle school, and elementary bands and choruses in schools in Massachusetts, New York and New Hampshire. A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Mr. Reynolds completed his undergraduate degree in music education at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and his graduate degree in music education at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. He also completed his Fine Arts Director Certificate requirements in 2008 at Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. In addition to his role as conductor of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Concert Band, he is the Director of Music at The Bromfield School in Harvard, Massachusetts. Additionally, Mr. Reynolds is a tour administrator and conductor for the United States Collegiate Wind Bands and Chorus, an organization that conducts annual tours of European countries for talented high school student musicians from across the United States and Canada. Mr. Reynolds also serves as the Northeastern United States recruiting representative for the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s National High School Honors Band program. He also actively participates in “The Art of Instrumental Conducting” institutes presented by the internationally recognized musician-teacher Edward S. Lisk. While at the Conservatory, Mr. Reynolds worked under Frank L. Battisti and served as manager and trumpet section coach of the Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble, a group of select high school students from the Bay State that has developed an international reputation for excellence. Mr. Reynolds has been a member of the New England Music Festival Association, Inc. since 1976 and has involved several students with NEMFA over the years. Mr. Reynolds has been a member of the NEMFA Executive Board since 1997; he has hosted four NEMFA Concert Festivals in a 26-year period – 1981, 1992, 1999, and 2007. He is also the Web Administrator and Bulletin Editor of the New England Music Festival Association web site, www.nemfa.org. Additionally, Mr. Reynolds is an active member of the Massachusetts Music Educators’ Association/National Association for Music Education, serving as the 2008-2010 Central District Chairperson, and the 2006 Massachusetts All State Concert Chairperson. In 2006, Mr. Reynolds was elected to be a member of the John Philip Sousa Foundation Board of Directors. He continues to play trumpet professionally, and is an active performer throughout New England.
