On to the Concert Festival
at Lewis S. Mills High
in Burlington, CT
Our Mission Statement:
The New England Music Festival Association, a diverse community of music educators from public and private schools, youth ensembles and private studios; and parents, is dedicated to offering high school musicians from across New England the opportunity to pursue musical excellence through participation in solo and ensemble festivals and concert festivals, and instill in each student a lifelong interest in music as a basic human experience.
NEMFA's two Solo & Ensemble Festivals offer students an adjudicated performance opportunity for instrumental solos, and vocal solos and ensembles, providing each with verbal and written feedback. These events are held on two Saturdays in December, one in Hartford, Vermont and the other in Cheshire, Connecticut.
Through their outstanding evaluations in one of those Solo & Ensemble Festivals, New England's most gifted music students are invited to join together in the New England Band, Chorus and Orchestra at the three day Concert Festival, hosted annually by a regional high school. Lead by some of our nation's finest conductors, three days of rehearsals culminate in a stellar concert by all three groups, attended by parents and supporters alike. Please consider joining us this year for the musical experience of a lifetime.
SOLO & ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY
For the first time this year, we are inviting a very select few of the musicians from the Solo & Ensemble Festival to perform in the Chorus Concert at this year's Concert Festival in March. One vocal solo, one vocal ensemble, one wind and one percussion or string performer, nominated by their adjudicators, have been asked to perform in this concert.
Congratulations to this year's invited students:
Marimba - Sophie Blair - Brunswick High School
Soprano - Emma Strange - Lake Region UHS
Tuba - Malachi Witt - Vermont Youth Orchestra
and the SSAA of Rachel Langois, Elizabeth Malinowski, Erica Sholes and Sienne McFailine from Mt. Anthony Union High School
